Urban extension application submitted

Bovis Homes and David Wilson Homes North Midlands today had their joint planning application for a sustainable urban extension at Edwalton registered with Rushcliffe Borough Council.

The plans for the site include 1200 new homes (including 30 per cent affordable for rent and shared ownership), new educational facilities, and community amenities. A dedicated bus route into the city, which will be free for the residents in the development, is also a part of the plans. A range of local retail, and community facilities are also proposed together with a new primary school. A hotel and provision for employment options are also proposed. A key component of the scheme also includes a 35-hectare community park.

The initial concept plans presented earlier this year at a public exhibition have been revised following consultation with the community and listening to comments and collating feedback from local residents.

Barry Herrod, regional planning manager for Bovis Homes said: “The masterplan we have submitted has been modified following the public exhibition and the comments we have received from the local community. Some of these modifications include redesign and relocation of the flood attenuation ponds to move them further from existing properties, strengthening the greenway footpath network to improve connections to the community park, and additional woodland added to the community park.

“We are excited about these proposals and believe they are a viable and positive option for achieving a sustainable solution to the housing targets that the area must meet.”
